BYD Announces Largest-Ever Recall Amid Rising Quality Concerns in China’s EV Market
BYD Company Ltd., China's leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has initiated its most extensive vehicle recall to date, affecting over 115,000 units. The State Administration for Market Regulation cited design flaws in 44,535 Tang SUVs and battery installation risks in 71,248 Yuan Pro models as primary causes. Remedial actions include free inspections and part replacements, with phased implementation to minimize owner inconvenience.
This recall marks the latest in a series of quality setbacks for BYD, following January 2025's withdrawal of 6,843 Fangchengbao Bao 5 hybrids over fire hazards. The development intensifies scrutiny on production standards as competition escalates in the world's largest EV market, where technological parity increasingly gives way to reliability as a key differentiator.
